The Eleventh Hour

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Unfortunately, God’s timing is rarely ours. We want God to move...right now! Actually, we wanted Him to move yesterday, and the day before. Why aren’t you moving God? Where are you? Have you even heard my prayers? If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. All God’s children have been there. It’s our testing time.

The ten hours preceding the eleventh hour is when our character is built and our faith is strengthened. The eleventh hour is when God shows up and works His miracle. In order to make it to the eleventh hour in victory, we MUST walk through the first ten in faith, not in doubt and unbelief. And yes, complaining is doubting. “...let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” ~ James 1:6-8

The Israelites were forced to wander in the desert for forty years because of their doubt and unbelief. God was angry with them for not trusting and believing Him, so He never allowed them to enter their promised land. ~Numbers 32:13

Our constant motto must be: God said it. I believe it. That settles it.

Abraham had to wait patiently until he was almost 100 years old before he fathered Isaac, God’s promised son. And Sarah, his wife, had to stand in faith, believing God, that even though she was nearly ninety, she would become pregnant with a son. Read Genesis 17. Most of us are never tested to this degree; and yet, we murmur and complain, and wonder why God is silent. “Let patience have it’s perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” ~James 1:4 Many right now are nearing the midnight hour...wondering if they missed God...if they were totally off-base with what they believed they heard from Him. Many are a minute short of aborting their destiny because their enemy has convinced them that it is never going to happen like they had hoped it would. Don’t quit! Or, as the song goes, don’t stop believing! Take a minute and think back on all the times God has been faithful to you, and answered your prayers in the eleventh hour. Remember His goodness toward you when you didn’t deserve it. God has heard your every prayer, and He knows your every need. But always remember, it’s never our need that moves God’s hand. It’s our faith. “According to your faith, be it done to you.” ~Matthew 9:29. In Matthew 15:28 Jesus said, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” Jesus also said to Jairus, whose daughter had died, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” ~Mark 9:23. Jairus made the choice to believe Jesus, then marched home to receive his miracle.

I don’t know what’s dead, or almost dead in your life right now; but if you will only believe, then God will move for you. Don’t let the enemy of doubt or impatience steal your blessing. Stay faithful!

Hebrews 10:36 “For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise”
